QR code requests

QR code requests are service requests submitted by scanning a QR code placed in a room, unit or space. The code opens a request form on the person's phone that already knows the location, so no phone call is needed.

Also known as: QR service requests · scan-to-request · QR code reporting

QR code requests are a way to report a need or a problem by scanning a code with a phone camera. Each code is tied to a location, such as a hotel room, an apartment, a meeting room or a lift lobby, so the request arrives already knowing where it came from. The person picks or describes what they need, adds details and submits.

Example

A guest in room 308 notices that the shower drains slowly. Instead of calling the front desk, they scan the QR card in the room, choose maintenance, type “slow shower drain” and submit. The request reaches reception tagged with room 308, is assigned to the engineer on duty, and the guest can follow its status until it is done.

In a building, the same idea works for common areas: a code in the gym or lift lobby lets residents report a broken treadmill or a flickering light with the location already filled in.

Why location-bound codes help

Phone calls and chat messages lose detail: the wrong room number, no photo, no record. A QR request is written down, timestamped and routed from the start. That makes first response time measurable and gives the team a history of what was reported where.

How it relates to neighbouring terms

A QR code request is a channel, not a type of work. The request itself is a guest request or tenant request, and once assigned it becomes a task or work order. Other channels, such as phone, email and front-desk walk-ups, still exist; QR codes reduce how much has to go through them.

Where TaskLoop fits

TaskLoop gives every hotel room its own QR code. Guests submit requests without a phone call, see them tracked, and rate the service when the task is complete. The same mechanism covers units, assets and common areas in residential and commercial buildings. See guest and tenant requests.
